Crows (After MLK)

Silhouette of soldier

Oily black rag of a crow,
harbinger? No; fear-mongerer!
you’re out of season,
medieval!
Wintering in Summer, too
hot in your black disguise.

Others wore masks,
carried indifferent flags,
gassing millions,
cleansing the weak.
Same outcome;
different jihad.

Like Schindler
I’ll make a list
that could include you;
like MLK, I dream of a time
when we can ‘sit
at the table of brotherhood…’
